Norman Warren "Huckie" Smith

Norman Warren "Huckie" Smith, 69, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2018, at his residence.

He was a current member of Hawkinsville Baptist Church and a former member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church.  Norman was a 1967 graduate of Howard High School.  He excelled in academics, and sports, with many awards.  

Always cherishing their memories of him are his mother, Bertha Smith; sisters, Gloria (Larry) Robinson and Jeanetta Smith, all of Chattanooga; brothers, Minister Raymond (Beverly) Smith of Huntsville, Al., and Pastor Calvin (Dornita) Smith of Norfolk, Va.; along with uncles; aunts; nephews; nieces; and other family members and friends.  

Visitation will be on Saturday, April 21, from 11-12 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with the funeral to follow at noon in the chapel with Pastor Bobby Hampton of Hawkinsville Baptist Church and Pastor Ternae Jordan, Sr. of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church officiating.  

Burial on Monday, April 23, at 10 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Ruben “Skip” Sandridge, Jr., 68, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 at his residence.  He will lie in state on Thursday, Aug. 16, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at noon with Pastor Willie Springs as the eulogist. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. (click for more)

NAACP Wants Answers On Snafu That Caused 43 Ballots Not To Be Counted In Recent Hamilton County Election

Officials of the NAACP said they have "grave concerns" about an election snafu in Hamilton County that left the ballots of 43 voters uncounted in the Aug. 2 election.
