Folksinger Duo Curtis And Loretta Perform At Christ Unity Church Sunday

Friday, April 20, 2018

Curtis and Loretta, an acclaimed folk singer/songwriter duo featuring harmonies and an array of stringed instruments, will be at Christ Unity on McBrien Road this Sunday April 22.  All are invited to the service that starts at 11 a.m.

Hailing from Minnesota, they will be presenting a "Sermon in Song," including insights on their spiritual journey, Celtic tunes, English ballads and story songs based on real people who overcame great challenges in their lives.

Their Newest CD is "When There's Good to Be Done," which features 12 original songs Loretta wrote about real people who overcame great challenges in their lives and come out stronger for the journey.  She interviewed each person, crafted their story into a song and then got back together with them to polish the edges.  It's the culmination of a year long project through an Artist Initiative grant that Loretta was awarded from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

"These are ordinary people with extraordinary qualities," she said. "There's a woman who donated a kidney to a little girl she'd never met, a WWII POW who survived the German Death March, a woman who grew up in a small primitive village in Somalia and is now a nurse at Mayo Clinic, one of the worst injured of the 35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis and many more.

Bob Tamasy: Hands, Heads Or Hearts

Drink Up, Chattanooga

I attended the meeting to discuss the placement of the sewage treatment plant at the Cambridge Center in Ooltewah today. My problem with the meeting (aka) dog and pony show, is that the meeting started out with the agenda of the Ooltewah Community Council.  After living in this area for 45+ years I have never heard of this group.  I would like for someone to answer ... Roy Exum: Dear Faux Pelini

It has been my experience that of all the tribes and herds of different people on earth, sports writers are among the funniest people of all. Oh, there isn’t anything real sexy about Villanova beating Georgetown or a baseball player hitting for the cycle. Now, if a player hits a single, double, triple and homer in that order, that’s “a natural cycle,” and that is kind of fun to ... (click for more)
