Morning Pointe Foundation Sponsors 6th Kim Campbell Caregiver Awareness Event

  • Friday, April 20, 2018
Chattanooga-based Morning Pointe Foundation hosted its sixth public awareness event for caregivers in Louisville, Ky., featuring Kim Campbell, wife of the late country music legend Glen Campbell. She shared her personal Alzheimer's journey to more than 450 attendees at Middletown Christian Church, which ended with a standing ovation.

The free event was hosted by Rachel Platt, anchor/reporter for WHAS-TV 11, and sponsored by Guardian Pharmacy, WHAS-TV 11 and Morning Pointe senior living and Alzheimer's memory care campus in Louisville.

"Kim has toured the nation, carrying her heartfelt message of hope as she shares her personal journey as a caregiver to Glen, who passed away in 2017 with Alzheimer’s disease.
With Kim at his side, Glen’s whirlwind goodbye tour in 151 cities was filmed and broadcast on CNN during the summer of 2015," officials said. Their documentary "I’ll Be Me" is available on DVD.

“When you make yourself vulnerable and you are honest about what you are going through, people want to love and support you,” Ms. Campbell said, reflecting on the impact she and Glen made when reaching out to others who share similar experiences with Alzheimer’s disease.

Morning Pointe communities, in partnership with the Morning Pointe Foundation, have carried educational initiatives across the Southeast to support caregivers of those living with Alzheimer's and memory disorders.   The Foundation has also funded scholarships at colleges across Tennessee and Kentucky, awarding nursing students pursuing careers in senior healthcare, and promoting awareness of Alzheimer's disease and memory care.

"Morning Pointe has made a commitment to spreading awareness about the needs of Alzheimer's caregivers," says Greg Vital, president and CEO of Morning Pointe Senior Living. "For several years, we have been proud to provide a platform for Kim's message, as her story has brought much inspiration to each person who hears it."
