Five Covenant baseball players had two hits apiece, but the Scots fell to visiting Pfeiffer, 18-5, in the series opener on Fridayafternoon.

The loss drops Covenant to 13-23 overall.
Pfeiffer has won 16 straight and moves to 28-7 on the year.

Devin Cerrato, Caleb Bloye, Joel Johnson, Daniel Johnson, and Brooks DuBose all had two hits each for the Scots, who tallied 12 hits on the day. However, Pfeiffer hit four home runs, including two grand slams, to pull away for the win.

Pfeiffer got on the board in the first with a two-out, grand slam from Chaston Gordon to go ahead 4-0. A two-run shot from Derek Perry in the top of the second stretched the visiting Falcons' lead to 6-0. Gordon finished 2-for-5 with five RBIs, while Perry was 2-for-6 with three RBIs for Pfeiffer.

Covenant broke through in the second on a DuBose sacrifice fly to center field that plated Joel Johnson to cut the Scots' deficit to 6-1. Trailing 9-1 in the sixth, Covenant scored two runs on an RBI fielder's choice from Trenton Nobles and an RBI single from Cerrato to get within 9-3. The Scots had the bases loaded with one out in the inning, but Pfeiffer reliever Cameron Reid got back-to-back strikeouts to end the Covenant threat.

Donny Lewis produced a pinch-hit, RBI single in the seventh inning and Joel Johnson added an RBI single in the eighth as Covenant trailed 11-5.

Pfeiffer put the game away in the ninth with seven runs. Andrew Chomiczewski's pinch-hit, grand slam capped the inning and gave the Falcons an 18-5 lead.

Drew Bradley (2-7) went four innings in his start, while Jackson Heuer threw three innings out of the bullpen for the Scots.

Matthew Lambert (5-0) received the win for the Falcons after going 5.1 innings and allowing two earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts. Kirby Lambert was 3-for-4 with a homer and four runs scored at the plate for Pfeiffer, while Christian Marciano and Damon Smith also had two hits. Pfeiffer out-hit Covenant 16-12.
