Carlos Dewayne Grayson, 37, gave victory to God and took flight to glory on April 19, 2018.  

He was born on Aug. 29, 1980, to Anita Merritt and Lonnie Gladden, Jr. in Chattanooga. He graduated from Brainerd High School in 1998 and was a faithful member of Mt. Ollie P. B. Church for 37 years where he performed multiple duties. He battled kidney failure and was on dialysis for 28 years.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Inez B. Lowery.

He leaves to cherish a legacy of memories, his loving mother, Anita Merritt, and father, Lonnie Gladden Jr., both of Chattanooga; grandparents, Lee and Barbara Merritt, of Madison, Al.; brothers, Tirrell Grayson of Chattanooga, Anthony Hunter Jr (Mia) of Decatur, Al.; sister, Chloe Hunter of Chattanooga; devoted uncle, William Lowery Jr., of Chattanooga; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, a nephew, and friends; and dearest friends, Conan Bell and Kerry Paris.

The body will lie in state at noon on Thursday, April 26, at Mount Ollie Primitive Baptist Church.

The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Elder Gregory Edwards officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
