WTCI, the Tennessee Valley’s PBS station, will host the inaugural Big Birdie Golf Tournament at Black Creek Club on Monday, May 14. Guests at this sold out event will enjoy one of the premier golf courses in the region and compete to win prizes at this tournament to benefit WTCI, Chattanooga’s community PBS station.

Frost & Company PLLC, Kirk Machine, Embark Project Services, TPC (Textile Printing Company), Core Fit Pros, the Kenco Group, Southern Honda Powersports, Capital Toyota, Miller & Martin PLLC and the Hamico Foundation, the event will combine the best of PBS and golf in a fun day.

Golfers will enjoy competing to win cars, motorcycles, door prizes and gift certificates as well as cash prizes for first and second place in flights. Mulligans and Forward Tees can be purchased prior to tee off in this select shot-style tournament and golfers will enjoy PBS-themed gifts, meals and beverage carts. Lunch will be provided by the Southern Star and a beverage cart will be sponsored by Textile Printing.

Doug Stein, general manager and one of the Founders of Black Creek Club, said, “I have loved seeing my children grow up watching Channel 45 and PBS programs. Hosting this charity tournament to benefit PBS in our community is an honor for the Black Creek family.”

Black Creek became a modern iteration of the classic Raynor/Macdonald golf courses under Mr. Stein’s management and continues to attract aficionados of great golf course architecture from around the nation. Thoughtfully designed multiple tee placements create a golfing experience that challenges the low-handicapper while ensuring an enjoyable time for players of all levels. Black Creek combines the best of vintage design with unique and contemporary elements to create a golfing experience of the highest caliber in a rich natural setting.

Paul Grove, president and CEO of WTCI, said, “We are thrilled to have Black Creek host this exciting event benefitting WTCI. Proceeds from the tournament support educational outreach and quality, PBS programming for families throughout the Tennessee Valley and we are excited about our partnership with this premier golf club.”
