University of Tennessee at Chattanooga freshman Rebakah Bryant set personal records in the Triple Jump and the 100 meter Dash at the season-ending Tri Star Classic hosted by ETSU at Science Hill High School.
Bryant topped her previous best distance of 10.03 set at the Western Carolina Catamount Classic earlier this season with a jump of 10.36 meter.
She finished one spot behind classmate Rebekah Hampton who was 10
th with a jump of 10.43 meters, slightly shorter than her previous best.
In the 100 meter Dash, Bryant bested her previous time by more than half a second with a 13.61.
“Becca Bryant did great today,” Chattanooga head coach Andy Meyer said. “She set a PR in the triple jump and took almost a full second off her 100 time. Becca Hampton continues to be consistent in her triple jump marks.”
Taylor Grayson had just one attempt in the hammer throw today and Rebekah Hampton was scratched from the 100 meter hurdles, both due to soreness.
“Taylor got in one throw and her shoulder was sore so I pulled her,” Meyer said. “We didn’t want to injure her. We want her 100 percent at conference. We scratched Becca Hampton from the 100 meter Hurdles as she had a little soreness in her knee. Again, we want her totally 100 percent for conference.
“Overall, Becca Bryant continues to make impressive improvements and Becca Hampton and Taylor are on track for the conference meet.”
The Mocs will take the next week-and-a-half to prepare for the Southern Conference Championships hosted by Western Carolina May 10-11.
