South Broad Street, which has been on the upswing, may be getting a Publix grocery store.
Officials of the Community Association of Historic St. Elmo said that will be one of the topics at the group's next meeting next Monday at 7 p.m. It will be at the old fire hall, 4501 St. Elmo Ave.
One item on the agenda is the potential rezoning on Broad Street, at the former site of the Sleep Inn at the intersection of St. Elmo Avenue near the closed Mt. Vernon Restaurant, to accommodate a Publix.
Officials said, "Our guests will include the potential Publix developer, as well as Bert Kuyrkendall, who will explain previous zoning changes in the area and how the new ones can affect that area."
