Noontunes Moves For Upcoming Season

  • Wednesday, April 4, 2018

Noontunes is moving, both in location and time of year, for the upcoming 2018 season. Noontunes, sponsored by Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union, is a weekly, mid-day music series coming back for the third season and seeking local artists to fill these unique performance time slots. This 10 week, local musician showcase series will now be from September to November in the new Miller Park.

Shifting from inside the Waterhouse Pavilion in Miller Plaza to the brand new stage and lawn of Miller Park for 2018, artist applications to perform at Noontunes are available online now through Friday, June 1.

With a $10 million renovation effort to be completed for Miller Park in July of this year, the new space will accommodate food trucks, larger crowds and high visibility for performances on the new stage of the EPB Pavilion.

“Not only is this new park space specifically designed for events like Noontunes but also a major addition to the heart of the Innovation District,” said Meagan Shinn, program director at River City Company. “Hosting Noontunes in Miller Park will capitalize on a new, high-tech space in the core of our city, boost the visibility of Noontunes from both vehicular and pedestrian traffic and benefit from the wave of momentum from the unveiling of the space just two months before.”

For the 2017 season, Noontunes featured artists like Lew Card, Swayyvo, Megan Saunders, Gino Fanelli, Husky Burnette, Magic Birds and D.L. Yancey among others. Also for the 2017 Noontunes season, over 30 musicians performed for audiences that averaged 178 people per show with a total attendance of 2,317 and clocking 97,986 live stream views.

Each performance will be open to the general public free of charge, live streamed and recorded and aired later on WUTC 88.1. Each live performance has a host who discusses the artist’s background and song selection providing insight and knowledge not normally gathered from a standard show.

This River City Company program, sponsored by Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union, is made possible through partners SoundCorps, Chattanooga Convention & Visitors Bureau, Jazzanooga, WUTC and River City Sessions.

The first performance is set for Wednesday, Sept. 5, from noon-1 p.m. at Miller Park. For more information about Noontunes or to apply to perform in 2018, visit www.NoontunesCHA.com.
