Lee University will host the 2018 spring Chamber Music Showcase on Wednesday
Lee University will host the 2018 spring Chamber Music Showcase on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Squires Recital Hall.
“We are very excited to present this semester's Chamber Music Showcase,” said Dr. Gloria Chien, artist-in-residence at Lee and chamber music director. “It will be an eclectic program of rarely heard chamber music pieces as well as classical masterworks.”
According to Dr. Chien, the evening will feature the unique sound world of Bartok, Montsalvatge, and Debussy. There will also be classics such as Beethoven's Piano Trio Op.1, No.1, Milhaud’s charming Scaramouche, and Rachmaninoff's Barcarolle from his Suite No.1 for Two Pianos.
Participating students are paired with other ensemble members and receive coaching with a Lee faculty member each week throughout the semester. The Chamber Music Showcase is the final presentation of the semester highlighting these chamber music ensembles.
“We are particularly excited to showcase our first woodwind ensemble which will perform the woodwind quintet by Anton Reicha,” said Dr. Chien. “We would love for all to join us for this evening of great chamber music.”
Squires Recital Hall is in Lee’s Humanities Center on Parker Street.
This event is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public.
