Former Chattanooga Police Officer Brian Moody III was sentenced on Monday to 24 months in federal prison for possession of child pornography.
He appeared before Judge Sandy Mattice.
Prosecutor James Brooks earlier said the maximum punishment Moody would face was 10 years in federal prison.
Attorney Lee Davis said a motion was filed and approved that lowered the term from 33-41 months to 24.
He said Moody is now in both private and group counseling to deal with the issue.
And he said he has gotten his forklift operation certificate and obtained other employment.
He is to report to prison on July 11.
