Kayla Pauze
An investigation by special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the arrest of a Cottontown woman who is charged with the abuse and death of a toddler she was babysitting.
At the request of 18th District Attorney General Ray Whitley, on March 27, TBI agents, with the assistance of the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, began investigating the injury, and subsequent death, of two-year-old Aiden Hale of Gallatin. During the course of the investigation, agents developed information that on March 26, the toddler’s babysitter, Kayla Pauze, inflicted an injury that resulted in the hospitalization of the boy. Aiden’s condition worsened, and on March 29, the toddler died from his injuries.
On May 8, the Sumner County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Kayla Nicole Pauze, 25,with one count of aggravated child abuse and one count of first-degree murder.
On Tuesday, Ms. Pauze was arrested and booked into the Sumner County Jail, where she is being held without bond.
