Cora Townsend
Cora A. Townsend, 87, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday May 20, 2018.
Cora was born on Dec. 13, 1930, to the late William and Josephine Earwood. She had many hobbies including: quilting, crocheting, sewing, canning food, and being an exceptional cook. Cora was a member of the Liberty Gospel Tabernacle. More than anything, Cora loved her family and she will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Oliver William Townsend; son, Mark Eric Townsend; siblings, Dallas Earwood, Claude “Buddy” Earwood, Floyd Earwood, Nellie Climber, and Sally Earwood; and son-in-law, Carl Jacobs.
Cora leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Edward Townsend (Melba Eilane), Claude Townsend (Betty), George Townsend (Kathy), Derita Jacobs, Michael Townsend (Juian), and Kenneth Townsend; siblings, Katie Bain, Esther Dispain, Hershel Earwood, and James “Jimmy” Earwood; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 22, from 5-9 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home, at 2419 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, Tn. 37311.
A celebration of life funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Companion Funeral Home, with her brother and Pastor Hershel Earwood officiating.
Following the service, Ms. Cora will be laid to rest in the Moore’s Chapel Cemetery.
