The City of Red Rank announced on Wednesday the establishment of a new system to communicate with residents and businesses. “We understand the importance of timely communication and ensuring that we keep our citizens in the loop regarding events affecting the City of Red Bank. As a result, we are pleased to announce that we are initiating a new notification service called REACH Alert,” said Mayor John Roberts.
This new service will allow Red Bank to immediately share important information regarding a number of items, including waterline breaks, power outages, road closures, traffic delays due to construction or accidents, hazmat situations, and civic events via text message, email notification, or voice call.
Implementation of the system will begin on July 1.
The city is now in Phase One of the project which requires those interested in receiving the alerts to opt-in to the system.
Residents and businesses must register with the REACH Alert system to be included in the program and receive alerts. Those wanting to receive the alerts can decide if they want a text message, voice call, or an email during the registration process. Each household can register up to four phone numbers or four email addresses.
To register for the service:
1. Go to www.reachalert.com and click on MY ACCOUNT.
2. Select CREATE ACCOUNT.
3. Follow the prompts and enter your preferred contact information.
4. Network Name: type Red Bank (click on our name when it appears).
5. Select Resident or Business
6. Enter your address and click on it when it appears in the drop-down list.
Speaking about the new system, Randall Smith, City Manager stated that “If someone does not have access to a computer or if they experience any difficulty registering, they can contact REACH Alert directly at (877) 307-9313. Remember, if you don’t register, you won’t receive our messages.”
