Joshua Mincy
Joshua Mincy pleaded guilty on Thursday to second-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the death of a woman in April 2017 whose body was found in the trunk of a car after a wreck on Norcross Road in Hixson.
Mincy, who was 25 at the time of the crime, received 30 years for murder and two years for abuse of a corpse.
The victim was 47-year-old Tammy Hall.
Chattanooga Police said Mincy tried to flee, but was taken into custody about 100-200 yards from the wreck.
A number of people at the scene identified Mincy as the driver of the wrecked vehicle. A number of witnesses noted his large number of tattoos.
Police discovered a Bersa .38 caliber firearm in a creek not far from the wrecked vehicle.
Other officers at the scene noticed blood on the rear bumper and then discovered the deceased female. She had an apparent gunshot wound.
One witness told of driving south on Norcross Road and seeing a dark-colored, four-door sedan leave the roadway and hit an unknown object.
