Walker, Thomas M.

Reverend Thomas M. Walker, 68, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018 in the Hospice Care Center.  

He was a 1967 graduate of Riverside High School and then graduated from Wilberforce University with a degree in Theology.  Reverend Walker was a faithful member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church and pastored several A.M.E. churches for over 40 years.  He was a chaplain for the Chattanooga Fire Department.  He was a patient representative for Erlanger Hospital for 22 years. 

His parents, Otis and Geneva Walker preceded him in death as well as his brother, Wilson Walker. 

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Veronica Walker; daughter, Natasha Mayfield of Nashville; granddaughter, Sydney Mayfield of Atlanta, GA; brother, Otis (Regina) Walker of Pittsburgh, PA; sister, Pearl (Odis) Jackson of Chattanooga; niece, Tracy Taylor of Chattanooga; several other relatives and friends. 

Visitation is on Thursday, June 14, from 6-7 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be on Friday, June 15, at noon at Warren Chapel A.M.E. Church with Pastor Willie L. Ison as the eulogist. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

Strong Winds Wreak Havoc In Chattanooga; Thousands Lose Power

A storm with wind gusts up to 70 mph did considerable damage in downtown Chattanooga around 2 p.m. on Saturday. Fencing along Miller Park was twisted onto a nearby lane of traffic on Market Street. 2 Shot In Separate Incidents Early Saturday Morning; 1 Victim Is A Juvenile Girl

Two people were shot early Saturday morning in separate incidents.
