Evelyn Street Kimsey, 90, went home to her heavenly father on Sunday, June 17, 2018

She was born in Huntsville, Al. She grew up in Soddy Daisy and graduated from Soddy Daisy High School. She was also a resident of Hixson most of her adult life.

After graduating from high school, Evelyn worked for Campbells’s Clinic.  She also worked at Alpine Crest Elementary School in the cafeteria when her son was attending school there.  Then she was employed at DuPont for many years and retired from there.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and also a volunteer at Memorial Hospital for several years after her husband passed away.

She was a faithful member all of her life at Daisy United Methodist Church, where her parents were charter members. Evelyn and her husband and parents were all very involved in the church and loved their church family.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother who adored her two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, France G. Kimsey, the love of her life; parents, Lee and Georgia Street; brother, Marvin Street; sister, Betty Jean Lasley; and several nieces and nephews.

Left to cherish her memory is her only child, Ken (Kathy) Kimsey; and her granddaughter, Kendra (Chad) Rucks; grandson, Kristopher Kimsey; brother-in-law, Alvin Lasley; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Sheree Ratchford for going above and beyond with her loving kindness and comfort she always gave to Evelyn.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, in the North Chapel with Pastor David Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 19, from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lee and Georgia Memorial Fund at Daisy United Methodist Church, (which is a campership for underprivileged children) 9508 Dayton Pike, Soddy Daisy, Tn. 37379.
