CARTA Set To Launch One Of Nation's 1st Full-Size All-Electric Transit Buses

Friday, June 22, 2018

ARTA has taken delivery on one of the nation's first full-size all-electric transit buses.

Officials said the bus may be ready for the road in about two weeks after some final touchups, including adding a radio.

Only one other city - in Washington state - has this type bus on the road.

Chattanooga will be the first in the country with three of the models. Two others are on order, but are expected here soon.

The 32-passenger bus has few moving parts so there is very little maintenance, including no oil to change. Its hundreds of small batteries are expected to last the 14-year life of the bus.

The new all-electric bus has a range of about 140 miles.

It will be charged overnight by plugging it in at the Wilcox headquarters. That takes about five hours. For a quick charge on the road, the bus can drive over a charging mechanism at the Shuttle South garage by the Chattanooga Choo Choo.

The bus has a "kneeling" mechanism that drops it low to the ground so wheelchairs can get in easily.

Am I Alone? - And Response

Am I alone seems to be quite apt as I begin to form sentences, thoughts and concerns regarding the state of this country. I feel like I am alone trying, somehow, to justify Trump and understand why he is constantly in the middle of chaos.  Now coined as the Liar-in-Chief, Chief Foreign Affairs Coordinator acting for his pal Russian Dictator, Putin.  The silence ... Six Things We Can Do About Mass Shootings - And Response (3)

All politics aside, the recent shooting in Florida, and every other shooting in a public place, is a senseless and, possibly, preventable tragedy. It is absurd that we can’t gather in a free society without the fear of some nut job or terrorist using us as targets.   And then the cries of “do something!” from every quarter. But, other than the obvious attempt by agenda-pushers ... (click for more)

Lookouts Open Series In Mobile Wednesday With 4-2 Win Over BayBears

Mobile, Al. - - - When the Chattanooga Lookouts pitching staff digs in it's heels it means that a couple of home runs added in last night was good enough for a 4-2 win over Mobile. Despite working as a starter for the majority of the season, Anthony Marzi came on in relief for this one. Paco Rodriguez got the ball to kick off the contest, and he turned in a scoreless first ...
