Presiding Elder J.R. Bridgeman, 68, passed away on June 22, 2018.

He was a graduate of Cleveland State Community College. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a minister of the AME Zion Church, president of the Clergy Koinonia of Greater Chattanooga and a retired Tennessee Highway patrolman. 

He was the pastor of Thompkin Chapel AME Zion Church and Pikeville Chapel AME Zion Church in Pikeville, Tn.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kellie Bridgeman; children, Marianne Taylor (Jason), Curtis Bridgeman (Charmaine), Lauren Goldston, Solomon James, and Josiah Emmanuel; six grandchildren; siblings, Jasper Bridgeman, Rev. Martha Goins (Samuel), Lyndon Bridgeman; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 28, at noon at Greater Tucker M.B. Church with Bishop Daryl B. Starnes officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.

Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
