Johnson Audiology announces Chattanooga native, Alexandra Cavitt, Au.D., back to her hometown as she joins the staff of Johnson Audiology’s Hixson office.

Dr. Cavitt said, “I love the atmosphere at Johnson Audiology.  Being from this area, I knew Johnson Audiology had a great reputation in the community.  Then when I interviewed with Dr. Johnson for the position, I saw firsthand their customer service and patient-centered care, and I knew she had a passion for helping people hear better.

I wanted to be a part of a group that had goals that mirrored my own.”

Johnson Audiology currently employs 10 doctorate-level audiologists among its five offices in Tennessee and Georgia as well as a host of support staff, including audiology assistants and patient care coordinators. Dr. Cavitt went on to say about her initial impressions of the practice that she was struck by how “both the audiologists and patient care coordinators work as a team to provide excellent service from entrance to exit.”

Dr. Cavitt is a graduate of Chattanooga’s Girls Preparatory School and said that even as a middle school student, she knew she wanted to be a part of the medical field. She said, “I have always been passionate about helping others. Hearing healthcare and audiology was a way that I could combine both diagnostic evaluation and therapeutic counseling.”

Her clinical experience includes positions at Farragut Ear, Nose, Throat and Allergy, The University of Tennessee Audiology Clinic, Tennessee Hearing Instruments and The University of Tennessee Child Hearing Services, all in Knoxville. She has additional clinical work in the Chattanooga area from Chattanooga Ear, Nose and Throat Associates and Children’s Hospital at Erlanger.

She is skilled in audiological evaluation and hearing aid evaluation, fitting, verification, validation and modification as well as tinnitus evaluation and follow-up, vestibular testing, auditory brain stem response and many other hearing healthcare techniques. She has a special interest in pediatric hearing health care and fitting children with hearing aid technology.

Johnson Audiology owner, Megan Johnson, Au.D., is pleased to have Dr. Cavitt join the practice and said, “Dr. Cavitt comes to Johnson Audiology with glowing recommendations and has transitioned seamlessly into the Johnson Audiology family both with our current patients and staff. Dr. Cavitt also brings specialized training and a deep-seated desire for helping children. I am really excited that her presence in the practice will allow us to expand our services to this age group. She is a welcomed addition to our team as our practice continues to grow.”

Asked about her return to her hometown of Chattanooga, Dr. Cavitt said, “Even while I was living in Knoxville, I considered Chattanooga home. This area is booming with growth, and I am so glad I can be here to experience that expansion.”

Dr. Cavitt joins Dr. Johnson, who sees patients in the Hixson and Cartersville offices, and Laura Ford, Au.D., who has been a part of Johnson Audiology’s Hixson team since 2015.
