  • Thursday, June 28, 2018

The Mullins Cove Volunteer Fire Department will be having a Volunteer Sign-Up day this Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Kelly's Ferry Community Church, 11612 Mullins Cove Road in Whitwell.

"We are looking for new volunteer firemen and board members to join our department. Come by and see what the Fire Department is about, discuss opportunities and look over our equipment.  Lunch will be provided from 11:15 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Training and Turnout gear are issued at no cost to qualified applicants.  Your help is needed in helping us protect the beautiful treasured landmark of the Tennessee River Gorge, along with property and possibly saving lives.

"If you are interested or know anyone who may be interested, please have them contact our Fire Chief Vinny at 423-315-9565 or Board Member Brenda at 423-653-8259.  We look forward to meeting you," officials said.

Kelly’s Ferry Community Church is located on the left 10.5 miles in, on the river on Mullins Cove Road, after you turn of off Suck Creek Road (Highway 27) or 11.5 miles on your right from Griffith Highway  (same Highway 27 over the mountain instead of along the river).  Mullins Cove is referred to River Canyon Road near the Suck Creek end.
