Dr. Le Andrea Ware presents a diploma to Tonya Perez-Morales
Dr. Le Andrea Ware returned to her alma mater Howard High earlier this year to close out the school year, and her love for the school and community has led her to make the Howard move permanent. Dr. Ware will remove the interim tag and become the executive principal of Howard High, officials said.
School official said, "Dr.
Ware showed her love and dedication to Howard students earlier today at the school’s summer graduation as she led parents and others in attendance in cheering on the 18 Howard High 2018 summer graduates. Dr. Ware commended the summer graduates for their perseverance and grit for returning to summer school to complete their graduation requirements."
Dr. Ware said to the crowd gathered for the graduation ceremony, “These young people did not listen when some may have said you can't finish, and today they are boldly saying yes we can. We salute these young people, and this is a day of celebration.”
After the graduation ceremony, Dr. Ware took the initiative to move the graduates forward toward the next step in life with a Next Steps Career Fair. Graduates could visit booths of local employers, colleges, and military recruiters to explore college and career opportunities.
Dr. Ware returned to her roots at Howard High in May to take over as interim executive principal. She is a Hamilton County native and a graduate of Howard School. She said, “As I roamed these halls over the last month as a proud Howard Hustln’ Tiger graduate, I knew that I had found the place I am meant to be at this time. I will be the loudest, most enthusiastic and ardent supporter of the students, staff, and families of the Howard community, and assist Hamilton County Schools in becoming the fastest improving school district in Tennessee.”
Officials said Dr. Ware "brings a wealth of educational leadership experience to the role of executive principal of The Howard School, and an unwavering commitment to lead the efforts of student academic improvement.
"With over 23 years of educational experience, she has served as a highly effective educator in a variety of roles throughout the district." She began her teaching career in 1995 and developed into a very successful elementary and middle grades teacher with a passion for the success of her students. In 2002, Dr. Ware joined the leadership ranks serving as a coach of literacy instruction and a consulting teacher at several urban and suburban schools.
Dr. Ware’s career in administration began as an assistant principal at the elementary and secondary levels. In 2009, she was selected principal of East Lake Academy, and the school was recognized as the fastest improving middle school under her guidance. During her tenure as principal, The Hamilton County Education Association named her the “Most Distinguished Principal of the Year,” and she also received the “Hamilton County Excellence in Administration Award.”
Most recently, she served as secondary operations director, where she provided leadership for 16 highly diverse schools in the district.
Dr. Ware is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she earned a bachelor’s and a master’s. She secured a second master’s degree from Tennessee Tech University. Ware completed her doctoral degree at Trevecca Nazarene University this summer, and she is privileged to be a devoted wife, and mother of two sons and a daughter.
Dr. Bryan Johnson, superintendent of Hamilton County Schools, said, “It is an exciting time at Howard with a new theater program and Future Ready Institutes coming to the school in the fall, and Le Andrea’s roots in the community and spirit for Howard will ensure the excitement continues to build.”
