The 11th annual LKQ Used Auto Parts sponsored Super Late Model "FireCracker 50" is in the books as local favorite Lil' Sam Seawright (14 years old.) of Fort Payne and Georgia's Colton Jackson topped their respective Main Events Saturday night at the Fort Payne Motor Speedway.
Lil' Digger Sam went head to head with big brother (aka. Big Digger) J.T.
at the start of the 50 lapper post the night's fireworks celebration from Oliver Fireworks Stands. J.T. rolled out front after a lap 1 side-by-side battle with little brother glued to his spoiler early in the race. "Slammin" Sammy in his # 16 "AgCor Steel, J & R Lumber, Farm Systems, LeahSeawright.com, Finish Line Graphics" sponsored racecar took the lead officially on lap 15 after jockeying thru the field underneath J.T. to formulate the winning move.
Former "Firecracker 50" winner (2016) Josh Putnam battled J.T. for second, swapping the position on the restarts. In the end it was Seawright's 1 & 2 followed by Putnam, last week's SLM winner Kasey Hall and Casey Turman. In the UCRA 602/Sportsman season opener Colten Jackson of Chatsworth, Georgia dominated the 25 lap feature leading flag to flag in his # J4 "Textile Rubber & Chemical Co, Welch's Bobcat, Jackson Trucking" sponsored machine over Colten Roberts, Jesse Hughes, John Benefield and David Woodall respectively.
The UCRA 602/Sportsman series moves to Round #2 next Saturday at Smoky Mountain Speedway, in Maryville, Tn for a $1,000 to win 15 lapper with it's sister series of UCRA 604/Crate Late Models. Fort Payne Motor Speedway returns to weekly Saturday night racing action in two weeks on Saturday, July 14, after Independence Day/Summer Vacation.
