Jeffrey Andrews, 43, was arrested early Wednesday morning for striking another man in the face with a shovel.

The incident occurred on May 28, when Richard Blancett of Boydston Road told Chattanooga Police that Andrews came to his house and accused him of stealing a carton of cigarettes. He said Andrews later threatened to burn down his house.

Officers said Mr. Blancett was bleeding from the face when they arrived and had multiple possible broken facial bones. Police collected the shovel as assault evidence, due to the presence of blood on the metal portion.

The victim was transported to Parkridge Hospital.
