Wright, Walter, Jr. (LaFayette)

Walter Wright, Jr., 74, of LaFayette, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018.  He was born on Dec. 13, 1943 in Alabama to the late Willie Wright, Sr. and Mary Robinson Wright.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Stamper Watson Wright.  He worked for many years at Wheland Foundry and Emperior Cup.

He is survived by a dear friend, Janice Stamper; stepchildren, Felicia (Willie Cox) Stamper, Reginal Stamper, of Chattanooga, Stacey (Elizabeth) Stamper, of Fort Oglethorpe, Linda Dina Spates, James Lee Watson and Willie Gene Watson, of LaFayette; aunt, Mary B. Salters, of Fort Oglethorpe; best friend, Wick, of LaFayette; a host of grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration Service for Walter Wright, Jr. will be held on Saturday, July 14 at 2 p.m. at New Bethel Christian Fellowship Church, 4009 Round Pond Road in LaFayette, with Pastor Ken Carson officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church from noon on Saturday until the funeral hour.  Interment,  LaFayette Cemetery.

Karen Saxton, 64, Killed In Crash On Highway 58 Saturday Afternoon

One person was killed in a crash on Highway 58 on Saturday afternoon. The victim was identified as Karen Saxton, 64. Juvenile Shot On East 14th Street On Friday

A juvenile was shot Friday evening on East 14th Street.
