Fred Roy Carder, Sr., 78, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018.

Originally from Murphy, N.C., Fred was a longtime Cleveland resident after marrying Brenda (Caldwell). He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and a dedicated employee of Duracell. He lived and instilled the values of hard work, enjoying the outdoors, and caring for his family. 

He was preceded in death by his father Roy and mother Pauline “Polly” and grandson Bradley Carder.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, sons and daughters-in-law, Fred, Jr. and Janene, Mark and Jennifer; grandsons, Joshua (Lauren) and William (Megan); granddaughters, Mary Cate and Anna, and great-granddaughter, Adelynn; brothers and sisters include Ralph (Brenda) and Hugh (Lisa) and Janet (Bill) Stiles, Jane (Wendell) Garland, and Louise “Susie” Carder. 

Funeral services are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 16, at First Baptist Church Cleveland. The family will receive friends on Monday beginning at 4 p.m. until the service time at the church.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Gene Brown, Fred Bryson, Madison York, Bubba Smith, Walter Peterson, and Jack Snyder will serve as honorary pallbearers.
