Tree Service Employee Injured While Trying To Stop Runaway Truck

A tree service employee was injured Tuesday afternoon, while trying to stop a runaway truck.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to 8000 Woodstone Drive for the report of a pedestrian struck.

Upon arrival, it was discovered workers from a local tree service were grinding a tree stump at 8016 Woodstone Drive.
Upon completion of the work, the workers loaded a stump grinder onto a trailer attached to 1999 white Ford F-150. The F-150 was parked on the roadway facing down hill.

While loading the grinder, the truck came out of gear for an unknown reason and started traveling down the roadway. After realizing the truck was starting to move, a worker for the company attempted to enter truck and stop it from crashing and was injured during the attempt.

As the truck continued down the hill, it struck a Chattanooga Police car which was parked on the roadway, unoccupied and not in service.

The truck pushed the police car down the hill into the yard at 8012 Woodstone Drive where it came to rest after being pushed into the front porch of the residence. The residence and both vehicles sustained damage due to this collision.

The injured worker was taken to a local hospital with injuries.
