Bettye Lou Martin, 79, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 12, 2018, in a local hospital, surrounded by her loving family.  

She was a long time and faithful member of East Third Street Church of Christ.  Bettye was employed by Orange Grove Center and retired after many years of service.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Mary Johnson; husband of over 20 years, Human Lee “Red” Martin; and her son, Michael Lebron Earls.  

Her memories will be cherished by her grandchildren, Zoranda (Melvin, Jr.) Bradley of Fayetteville, AR and Michael Earls, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; two great-grandchildren, Melvin Bradley, III and Zayden Michael Bradley; six loving sisters, JoAnn G. Russell of Memphis TN, Johnnie Mae (Alvin) Smith of Knoxville, TN, Mary J. (Nathaniel) Pollard of Laurel MD, Doris Jean Phipps, Effie J. (Robert) Gilbert, and Marion L. Byrd, all of Chattanooga; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many beloved friends.  

Visitation is on Friday, July 20, from 6-7 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 21, at noon at E. Third Street Church of Christ with Brother John R. Taylor, Sr. as the eulogist.  Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
