Matthew Todd Alexander, 39, and Darren Scott Hall, 19, were arrested early Tuesday morning for the burglary of Ark Care Storage on Hixson Pike.

Deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said Alexander’s 15-year-old daughter was present during the incident, but both defendants denied she had anything to do with the theft.

Officers said they encountered an SUV parked outside the business. They said the vehicle had a male and female sitting inside and another male was under a camper. Tools commonly used for burglaries were also present at the scene, including wire snips, a head lamp, and a socket set.

Inside the SUV, deputies said they discovered numerous vehicle batteries, taken from the RVs parked on the lot, as well as a sprayer tank. They said the door to the camper was open and it looked as if it had been rifled through.

During an interview, Alexander confessed that he had made entry into the storage lot and camper for the purpose of stealing. Both Alexander and Hall are charged with aggravated burglary, theft of property, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
