Jeanette Tulloss, 51, was found on the ground outside Park Village Apartments early Tuesday morning. Police said she had sustained multiple stab wounds to her back. Following the incident, Shana Smith, 33, was arrested for attempted homicide and aggravated assault.

Officers spoke to Ms. Tulloss in the emergency room of Erlanger Hospital. She said she was approached by Ms. Smith from behind and the defendant began to stab her in the back. Ms. Tulloss said she held on to the defendant until police arrived.

Officers said the victim had four puncture wounds in her back, one of which punctured her lung. They said Ms. Smith was also in the emergency room receiving treatment. They said she had sustained scrapes on both knees and elbows, a cut to her face, and a broken finger nail.

Ms. Smith told officers she was approached by Ms. Tulloss, and during a verbal altercation Ms. Tulloss punched her in the face. She said a knife was not involved, but Ms. Tulloss was known to carry knives.

One witness, Shelia Fitch, told officers she heard a verbal altercation, and upon checking outside, was approached by Ms. Tulloss. Ms. Fitch said she then saw Ms. Smith come out of her apartment armed with several knives, approach Ms. Tulloss, and begin stabbing her in the back.

Once cleared by Erlanger, police transported Ms. Smith to the Hamilton County Jail.
