Manpower Looking To Fill 300 Job Positions

The Bethlehem Center and Partnership for Families, Children and Adults' Building Stable Lives program are partnering with Manpower to open the Center’s doors for a job fair that could employ up to 300 Chattanooga residents.

The job fair is on July 24 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Bethlehem Center, 200 W 38th St. 

“This is a great opportunity for adults to start the process of stability,” said Karen Nichols, BSL life coach for the Partnership FCA. “By attending, they have the chance to meet potential employers, network and get hired instantly.
” 

Community members can apply on site for positions ranging from warehouse jobs to machine operation.

The job fair is open to men and women who are 18 years of age or older. Educational resources will also be available for those looking to go back to school.

Georgia Labor Market Sets Records In August

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said  Thursday  that Georgia’s unemployment rate for August dipped below the national number for the first time  in 11 years . The rate, at 3.8 percent, is approaching the state’s record low of 3.4 percent, set in 2000. At 3.8 percent, it is down .1 percent from July. By comparison, the national rate is 3.9 percent. ... 1 Killed In Crash On Highway 58 Saturday Afternoon

Highway 58 was shut down Saturday afternoon due to a head-on crash with a fatality near Linda's Produce. There were multiple emergency vehicles on the scene. Highway 58 was closed in both directions. More information will follow. (click for more)

Juvenile Shot On East 14th Street On Friday

A juvenile was shot Friday evening on East 14th Street. The Chattanooga Police Department responded at 6:45 p.m. to a person shot in the 2000 block of East 14th Street. Upon arrival, Officers located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
