James Murphy
James H. Murphy DDS, 86, of Harrison, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018.
Jim was born on Friday, July 15, 1932, in Washington, D.C. to the late Harold Stephen Murphy and Ruby Jane Hill Murphy. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Dental Association.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents as well as his son, John Stephen Murphy; brother, Eugene Murphy; sister, Patty Joy Gould; and brother-in-law, Claude Bridges.
Survivors include his wife, Karen W. Murphy; son, James Murphy Jr. (Nina); son, David Murphy; son, Chris Murphy (Debbie); sisters, Mary Ellen Bridges and Jane Scobey (Bill); brother-in-law, Leonard Gould; grandchildren, Laurel Murphy, Anna Murphy, and Nicole Murphy; one great-grandchild, Khalessi Blackwell; several nephews and one niece.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 22, from 4-7 p.m. and on Monday, July 23, from 12-2 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel in Hixson.
The funeral will be on Monday, July 23, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
