Sisters Cindy McGriffin, Collen Takach, and Chris Greenwell love to volunteer at The Lantern
For Colleen Takach, Cindy McGriffin, and Chris Greenwell, volunteering runs in the family—their family, that is. These three sisters are frequent volunteers at The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Colledgedale. According to Maria Lee, the Lantern Program Coordinator at the memory care community, Takach “volunteers once or twice a week” at The Lantern while her sisters, who live in Maryland, volunteer when they are in town visiting her.
On July 17, Ms.
Takach and her sisters joined forces to help The Lantern residents bake cookies. Sprinkles and colorful candies adorned the tables as residents customized sugar cookies to their hearts’ content. “They [the residents] really liked making the cookies, but they loved eating them more!” Lee says.
