The East Ridge Police Department wishes to remind residents of East Ridge that shooting fireworks is illegal inside the city limits. Citizens who choose to use fireworks in other, legal locations should ensure the safety of those around.

It is estimated that around 230 serious injuries occur around July 4th every year. Additionally, around 3,000 children are injured throughout each year from fireworks, the most common are the result of sparklers.

There are many public, legal displays of fireworks in the area and citizens are encouraged to enjoy those shows.
