Marsha Johnson
Marsha Elaine Johnson, 53, of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, in a local hospital.
She was a graduate of Howard High school class of 1983. She was a member of Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Beautifying Guild, a member of the Mass and Gospel Choir and served as a missionary.
She was preceded in death by her father; Alfred J. King, Sr.; son, Jeffrey Johnson, Jr.; grandfather, Lawrence Wilbon; grandmother, Annie Mae Jackson; and daughter, Latanya Tremble.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Jeffrey Johnson, Sr.; son, Kevin Dowdy; god-son, Victor (Andrea) Vasquez; daughters, Jennifer Johnson, Arndea Sullivan and Christy Loy, all of Chattanooga; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother, Mary Wilbon; brothers, Alfred (Linda) King, Jr., Michael (Hattie) King, both of Chattanooga; sister, Joyce Hope of Chattanooga and Mary Jones of Columbia, Tn.; brother-in-law, Ishmell (Tracy) Johnson, Jr. of Fort Meyers, Fl.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Johnson, Mildred Taylor, Cheryl Taylor, and Wanda Taylor all of Chattanooga; best friends, Lillie Cloypton, Jacquelyn Hardy, and Lillie Rucker Hill, all of Chattanooga; and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She will lie in state on Monday, Aug. 13, after 1 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Carlos Williams as the eulogist. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
