A woman told police that a man tried to rape her in Coolidge Park.

Anthony Darryl Hixson, 53, was charged with attempted rape.

In the incident on Friday, police found a woman wearing only a shirt and bra. She was missing her pants and underwear.

After police flushed Hixson out of some thick vegetation, the woman said he was her attacker.

She said while she was asking for money under the Walnut Street Bridge that Hixson began to flirt with her. She said they were sitting in the grass when he tried to remove her clothing.

She said she yelled "No" and called for help.

The woman said she could not remember if the man actually had penetration. She does remember a black male pulling Hixson off her.

A witness told police about seeing movement in the bushes and observing a man on top of a woman, who appeared to be struggling.

The witness made an identification of Hixson.
