John Carter Rosson, 91, a resident of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018, in a local hospital.
Mr. Rosson was the sixth child of 10 and he was born on Sept. 5, 1926 in Hoxie, Ar. He was the son of the late Lessie Gage Rosson and Thomas Walter Rosson, Sr. His sisters, Helen Dial, Dorothy Dean, Mary McClelland and Wanda Rosson, and his brothers, James Rosson, Thomas Rosson Jr., Charles Rosson and Wayne Rosson also preceded him in death.
Carter, as he was known to family and friends served in WW II in the Navy. He retired from General Motors Chevrolet Division in Flint, Mi., and after retirement lived many years in Terlingua Ranch, Tx. He wrote songs that were published and loved to sing and play his guitar.
Survivors include his sister, Rebecca Williams and her husband Bill of Cleveland and many nieces and nephews also survive.
The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Monday, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel with Dr. Thomas Rosson and Reverend Jose Wilfredo Pimentel officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Monday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
