Jerry R. Edge, 72, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. He died peacefully at his residence surrounded by family. 

Jerry was born Nov. 12, 1945 in Dalton to the late Lloyd and Lucille Edge. 

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pat Edge; daughters and sons-in-law, Mandy and Andy Fincher of Dalton and Millie and Blake Bridges of Greenville, S.C.; daughter and boyfriend, Jennifer Edge and Shannon Joiner of Atlanta; four grandchildren, Reed Fincher, Ashton Fincher, Harper Bridges, and Noah Bridges; special cousin, Alton Key; and friend, Dan Lawson. 

A lifelong resident of Dalton, Jerry graduated from Dalton High School in 1963 and attended Southern Technical Institute. In 2009 he retired from Textile Maintenance, Inc. He enjoyed many hobbies including riding motorcycles, and hunting Civil War relics. He was an Eagle Scout and an avid collector of many things. 

He especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends and he maintained his sense of humor throughout his illness. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Blake Bridges officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 12-2 p.m. 

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Rock Bridge Community Church, 121 West Crawford St. Dalton, GA 30720.
