Stanley Ross Payne, M.D., of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side, on Wednesday, August 15, 2018.

Stanley was born on February 27, 1933 in Dallas, Tx. He was raised in San Antonio, graduating from Alamo Heights HS, followed by Tulane University and Tulane Medical School. Married, they spent four years at the Naval Air Station outside of D.C., where Stanley was commissioned a Lieutenant. He then began his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn. in orthopedics, and one year as a Fellow. Stanley and family then moved to Schenectady, NY and San Francisco, as he studied various specialties of orthopedics.  In 1969, Stanley and Mary moved to Lookout Mountain with their three young children, to begin his career as an orthopedic surgeon in Chattanooga.

Stanley loved his profession, his family, and the Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.
