TVA Presents Plans For Proposed Transmission Project

  • Monday, August 20, 2018

The Tennessee Valley Authority is proposing upgrades to its transmission system that would supply power to a new TVA secure office complex and provide for future power system connections to ensure 99.999 percent reliability and additional capacity for growth in the area, said officials.

TVA is proposing to invest about $26 million in a 5.25-mile transmission line through portions of Bradley, Hamilton and Meigs Counties to provide power to the proposed Gunstocker Creek 161-kV station. The line would be built on steel pole structures on existing 100-foot-wide right of way and on new 100- to 150-foot-wide right of way.

An information day will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, at the Cedar Ridge Seventh-Day Adventist Fellowship Hall, 8408 Highway 60, in Georgetown.

Detailed maps showing the transmission system improvements will be available. TVA staff will answer questions and discuss concerns. More information is available at https://www.tva.com/transmissionprojects
