5th Annual Cleveland Geekster Returns Sept. 22

  • Tuesday, August 21, 2018

The 5th annual Cleveland Geekster will be held Sept. 22 in the Cleveland State Community College gymnasium from 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Celebrating its fifth year with attendance nearing 1,000 people, Geekster features more than 40 vendors with assortments of things that make nerds smile. It continues to grow, of which something founders Ashley Raburn, Rob Alderman and Ryan Faricelli are proud.

“We broke our attendance record again last year,” said Mr. Alderman. “Let’s face it. You can’t stop the geeks from hanging out and having a great time.”

“Each year we see people putting the event on their calendars and making the trip to join us,” Mr. Faricelli said. “We have a line out the door before we open, and the space stays full all day.”

From its beginning, Geekster was designed to be fun for people of all ages and to give families something fun to do on a Saturday afternoon, and that isn’t going to change.

“We will always be family friendly," said Mr. Raburn. “This is an event where everyone is welcome, and where age isn’t a restriction. Geekster is a place you can bring your kids without fear.”

People have already been signing up to attend, and vendor spaces have sold out, which should mean another successful year for the event, said organizers.

"It used to be uncool to be a geek,” said Mr. Faricelli. “But these days, Geekster is where the cool kids are. And by cool kids, I mean everyone.”

Tickets for the Cleveland Geekster are available at the door for $5 for adults. Children 12 and younger are free. The gymnasium at Cleveland State is at 3535 Adkisson Dr. NW in Cleveland.
