The Architecture, Construction, and Engineering Mentor Program of Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia kicks off the week of Aug. 27. ACE is an after school mentoring program where high school students have the opportunity to meet with architects, engineers, and builders to learn about careers in the design and construction industry. Students will gain experience in working on a real-world project and have the opportunity to compete for scholarships to pursue and A-C-E career beyond high school.
This year the student project will focus on the redevelopment of the City Hall Annex at 100 E. 11th St. and explore its relationship in the emerging Innovation District. Students will present their work at our annual scholarship event on Jan. 29, 2019.
The program is operating as four school-based teams, Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences, East Ridge High School, Howard High School and Lafayette High School. In addition, there are will be two open teams for students from any area high school at EMJ Corporation and DH&W Architects. For more details on team meetings and to register students, please go to www.acementor.org.
ACE is also actively recruiting architect, engineer, and construction mentors for the 2018-2019 program. To become a mentor, please register at www.acementor.org. All mentors are required to complete a background check and mentor training prior to working with students. For more information, please contact Breanne Kintz at chattanoogatn@acementor.org
