Pedestrian Struck And Killed On Shallowford Road Tuesday Morning

A pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday morning on Shallowford Road near Hamilton Place Mall.
 
At approximately 6:44 a.m. the Chattanooga Police Department responded to a pedestrian struck at 7300 Shallowford Road.
 
Investigators have determined that the pedestrian was crossing Shallowford Road in low light conditions going against the signal.
The driver, Richard Fierson, 64, was proceeding through the intersection with a green light. He braked and swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid striking the pedestrian.
 
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Her
identity is being withheld until next of kin are notified.
