The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team began the 2018-19 season with a 36-hole day at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships. The ladies opened with 307 and closed with 302 for a 609 total at Cherokee Country Club.
The puts the squad in 14th just one stroke behind the 11th-place trio of Ole Miss, UCF and Coastal Carolina at 608. The Mocs are one ahead of BYU, eight clear of South Dakota State and lead Iowa by 15.
Senior Monica San Juan led the group with twin 75s for 150.
That is one in front of freshman Rheagan Hall’s 151 turning in 75 and 76. Esme Hamilton and Maddy McDanel are next at 154, while Kirsty Beckwith registered 166.
Charlotte holds the team lead at 585. Kent State (587) and Maryland (588) round out the top 3. Middle Tennessee’s Hanley Long is the individual leader with 141.
