Mervin C. Hilke, 75, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee passed away on September 19, 2018.

He was a member of Hillside Baptist Church in Hixson and supported many local and global ministries. Merv was a highly regarded financial advisor for over fifty years and loved to travel. He was an avid golfer and member of Signal Mountain Golf & Country Club. Merv was in the Army and awarded the Bronze Star. During his time in the Army he served in the Vietnam War and was in the 199th Light Infantry Brigade. He was a devoted “Pops” that was loved by all of his grandchildren. He had an infectious laugh and deep voice and if you ever met him you would never forget him or his trademark mustache.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Merton and Geneva Hilke; wife, Delores Gregory Hilke; sisters, Sandra Pearson and Cynthia Cagle.

He is survived by his wife, Cheri Hilke; children, Dawn (Clayton) Poe, Matt (Nina) Hilke, Mark (Shanna) Hilke, Mitchell Tuck and Scott (Aleisha) Tuck; grandchildren, Logan, Tyler, Trip, Stephany, Mason H., Ainsley, Callie, Sarah, Jack, Max, Jackson, Megan, Anna, Mason T. and Emerson; brothers, Harry (Sharon) Hilke and Jack (Pam) Gregory; several beloved nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hillside Baptist Church, 6311 Dayton Boulevard, Hixson, Tn. 37343.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, Sept. 23, from 5-7 p.m. and on Monday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Sept. 24, at 12 p.m. with Pastor Steve Cape officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery. 

Arrangements are held by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
