Josephine Shavin
Josephine “Yuppie” Shavin, 88, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Friday September 21, 2018, at a local hospital.
Yuppie was the daughter of the late Solomon Sir and Esther Michner Sir. Yuppie was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Harold Shavin; brother, Harry Sear and nephew, Jay Susman.
Yuppie was very involved in helping Harold in their retail business being successful.
Mrs. Josephine “Yuppie” Shavin is survived by her children, Alan Shavin ( Lisa Tarsitano) of Tempe, Az., Rita (Bob) Brook of Chattanooga, Gayle Shavin-Taliaferro (Allen Taliaferro) of Chattanooga, TN; sister, Dorothy Kaset of Tulsa, Ok.; grandchildren, Erik (Jennifer) Brook, Sarah Brook, Sam Johnson, Stefani Johnson; great-granddaughter, Maya Brook; niece, Mary Susman and her children, Andy (Rebekah) Susman and Beth (Johnny) Walling. Yuppie is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Graveside service were held on Sunday, Sept. 23, at 1:00 p.m. from B’nai Zion Cemetery, with Rabbi Susan Tendler officiating.
At the family requests, in lieu of flowers, to make donation in her memory to B’nai Zion Synagogue, 114 McBrien Road Chattanooga, Tn. 37411.
