"Hitmakers" Music Series Takes The Stage In Chattanooga Oct. 4

  • Monday, September 24, 2018

Puckett’s Chattanooga will host hit songwriter Roger Alan Wade on Oct. 4 as part of the restaurant’s recently launched “Hitmakers” music series presented by Puckett’s in partnership with Old Dominick Distillery.

Hitmakers aims to put the spotlight on the writers behind No.1 hit songs and give the audience insight regarding the stories behind their favorite songs in an intimate ‘songwriters in the round’ format.

Recently named by Saving Country Music as one of country music’s 85 greatest songwriters, Mr. Wade has penned songs for country legends such as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, George Jones and the No.1 hit “Country State of Mind” for Hank Williams, Jr. In addition, Mr. Wade, along with his cousin Johnny Knoxville, hosts an hour-long weekly show on Sirius XM’s Outlaw Country channel.

“I feel like Hitmakers is exactly what the Chattanooga music scene needs,” Mr. Wade said. “It all starts with the songs, and I’m so pleased to see Puckett’s get behind something like this and give us a forum. I want to see everyone have fun and make it an event that the community looks forward to.”

Joining Mr. Wade will be two of his fellow songwriters and musicians, Cecil Allen Moore and Lew Card.

“Cecil and Lew are great guys, and we’ve been brothers in song for many years, friends for even longer,” Mr. Wade said. “It’s just gonna be like kicking back on the front porch sharing songs and a good time.”

"The Hitmakers Series is spirited by Old Dominick Distillery, a revitalized Memphis brand with a like-minded commitment to showcasing great local talent. As a small-batch distillery, Old Dominick specializes in offering products like whiskey, vodka, gin and its signature Memphis Toddy," officials said.

Puckett’s signature cocktails made with Old Dominick spirits, normally $10, will be featured for $8 at Hitmakers shows.

“Old Dominick naturally gravitated toward Puckett’s because both of our brands strongly value and prioritize supporting Tennessee culture, musicians and products,” said Clark Schifani, vice president of Sales for Old Dominick. “Puckett’s Hitmakers Series provides the perfect setting to combine these Southern traditions to offer weekly shows that are truly memorable.”

Hitmakers Series shows take place every Saturday night at the restaurant’s Franklin location, and special shows will rotate on a quarterly basis among other Puckett’s locations in Columbia, Chattanooga and Murfreesboro.

Chattanooga’s show with Mr. Wade, Mr. Card and Mr. Moore will take place from 7:30-9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4 with a $12 cover. Show and dinner reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 423-708-8505. Seating begins at 6:30 p.m.
