Silverdale Baptist Academy Has Pink Out Volleyball Game Sept. 18

Silverdale Baptist Academy will host a varsity and junior varsity volleyball game that will be a Pink Out on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 6 p.m. It will be held at the Silverdale Baptist Academy Gymnasium.

Gate admission and the concession stand fees will be donated towards the MaryEllen Locher Scholarship Foundation. 

The foundation provides college scholarships for high school applications that have mothers or fathers that have been affected by breast cancer. These parents may be survivors, currently undergoing treatment, or have passed away from breast cancer.

There will be a half-time ceremony with MaryEllen Locher Foundation board members will present roses to survivors and those in memory.

Head of School Becky Hansard, a breast cancer survivor, will be in attendance. She will speak to the crowd about the school's participation to raising awareness and helping the MaryEllen Locher Foundation. 

 



Survivorship Empowerment Class Open To All Cancer Survivors Sept. 25

Marilyn Lloyd, who represented the Third District in Congress for 10 terms, has died at the age of 89. Ms. Lloyd got into politics after her husband, TV anchor Mort Lloyd, was killed in a plane crash in 1974. Mort Lloyd had won the Democratic primary to oppose Rep. Lamar Baker. A Soddy Daisy couple reported a theft at their residence netted thieves over $56,000 in items.
