Monica Wright, Erik Simpson, Cannon Hunt And Ben Strawn At Heritage House Sept. 13

On the second Thursday of every month singer-songwriters from the Chattanooga community put on a free house concert called "SongWriter's Night" at The Heritage House Arts and Civic Center, 1428 Jenkins Road in East Brainerd from 7-9 p.m.

September performers will be Monica Wright, Erik Simpson, Cannon Hunt and Ben Strawn.

"Every month attendees have the opportunity to hear some of the most gifted musical talent that the Scenic City has to offer, as a round of four singer-writers play their compositions and tell the moving stories behind each of them," officials said.



The event is free to the public and is a partnership of the Chattanooga Songwriters Association and the Department of Youth & Family Development hosted by the staff at the Heritage House. 

From 6:30-7 p.m. there is opportunity to mingle with the songwriters over a cup of coffee and light refreshments.

Harvest Song Is Saturday In Dalton

Harvest Song, and evening of acoustic, American music, will return to Dalton again this year and will feature regional songwriters Noah Collins, Charlsey Ethridge, and David Crawford. Marilyn Lloyd, who represented the Third District in Congress for 10 terms, has died at the age of 89. Ms. Lloyd got into politics after her husband, TV anchor Mort Lloyd, was killed in a plane crash in 1974. Mort Lloyd had won the Democratic primary to oppose Rep. Lamar Baker. A Soddy Daisy couple reported a theft at their residence netted thieves over $56,000 in items.
