Australian songwriter/guitarist Geoff Achison will have a CD release party at Charles and Myrtle's Coffeehouse on Saturday, Oct. 13.  The coffeehouse is inside Christ Unity Church at 105 McBrein Road.  There is a $10 suggested donation at the door. Geoff Achison has played the Bessie Smith Strut and Riverfront Nights in the past.:

Geoff is from Melbourne, Australia and here promoting a brand new CD called Sovereign Town.  A concept album inspired by his growing up in a town which sprang from abandoned goldfields of the Australian Gold Rush of 1850.

Marilyn Lloyd, who represented the Third District in Congress for 10 terms, has died at the age of 89. Ms. Lloyd got into politics after her husband, TV anchor Mort Lloyd, was killed in a plane crash in 1974. Mort Lloyd had won the Democratic primary to oppose Rep. Lamar Baker. A Soddy Daisy couple reported a theft at their residence netted thieves over $56,000 in items.
